With the acai berry industry growing rapidly, it’s important to learn all about its health benefits!
- Acai berries are loaded with antioxidants.
Foods that are high in antioxidants typically work to neutralize our bodies, and have even been linked to lower a person’s risk of diseases, including heart disease and cancer. Additionally, these antioxidants help to boost immunity and lower inflammation in the body.
- Acai has been linked to help prevent Alzheimer’s and increase overall brain function.
Its high levels of antioxidants can work to counteract any oxidation or inflammation of brain cells that may cause poor memory and delays learning skills.
- Acai berries are nutrient dense.
They have a multitude of vitamins, minerals and fiber in a single serving (which helps them classify as a superfood)! They are high in Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, E and Vitamin K. As for minerals, acai contains magnesium, iron, copper, manganese and potassium.
- Promotes a healthy heart.
Furthermore, acai contains anthocyanin, a red pigment that helps control cholesterol levels, reduce the risk of heart disease and increase overall heart health.
- Slow down the signs of aging.
Due to their high levels of antioxidants, acai can slow signs of aging and even work to reverse some signs.
The nutrition facts aside, acai is absolutely delicious… I’ve become completely obsessed over the past few years. My favorite way to eat acai is blending the frozen puree into a smoothie like consistency, and crafting it into an acai bowl with fruit, granola and peanut butter! The bowls are fruity, refreshing and most importantly, guilt free! In my opinion, SoBol does it best; Needless to say, if you have a location near you, you have to get your hands on one of their homemade acai bowls or acai smoothies!
