SoBol brings health-focused acai bowls to Long Island with Hauppauge, East Meadow franchise locations opening soon.

Fast-growing acai bowl franchise SoBol has made a quick and targeted impact in the Empire State with its high-quality product and attractive business model. The brand’s continued ability to differentiate itself as a health-conscious quick service option with competitive pricing has resonated with customers so successfully in the greater New York City area that franchise units have completely sold out on Long Island, where franchisees are equally excited about SoBol’s growth.

Angelina Perry said it only took one acai bowl to sell her on SoBol’s unique offering. A business owner who was looking for something fun and different, Perry was introduced to the brand by her younger sister. “She ate acai bowls all the time, so I asked her to take me to get one since I knew SoBol franchised. After that, I was hooked,” Perry said.

Perry said her decision to buy a SoBol franchise was an easy one because of the brand’s appealing concept and the positive atmosphere surrounding it. “I loved the energy and being a part of something new and growing. I researched other franchises and I just wasn’t impressed by any others,” she said.

She bought into the franchise system in February 2017, opening her first store in Ronkonkoma, New York that September. She called the location a “no-brainer” because she already owned and operated her family’s florist business in the same building she planned to open her SoBol franchise. With overall investment ranges from $174,800 to $249,500 including an initial franchise fee of $20,000, SoBol gives franchisees tremendous opportunity to grow. Perry has had so much success with the brand she is already opening her second SoBol in Hauppauge, New York, in August.

Perry chose Hauppauge because of its proximity to Ronkonkoma and her familiarity with the town. She is excited and optimistic about hew new location because it’s in the vicinity of both Hauppauge High School and an industrial park, which she thinks will bring in great traffic. Perry plans to continue drawing on her experience as a hands-on business owner to bring her newest SoBol franchise to the highest level due to her love of making customers happy with a great product.

Perry isn’t the only SoBol franchisee that has become a multi-unit owner. Scott Rosenberg, owner of SoBol’s Cos Cob, New York and White Plains, New York locations, is set to open a 3rd location in Yonkers in late August.

For Jim Duffe, the combination of SoBol’s proven business model coupled with a product that appealed to his children is what compelled him to embark on his first endeavor in entrepreneurship with the brand. Duffe first encountered SoBol when he visited his friend Eric Hajdukiewicz’s store in Wantagh, New York. “I knew how popular acai bowls were in California so I believed in the concept. Plus, Eric’s store had a ton of customers and he was great with providing information about the business.”

Duffe had spent his career to that point in medical sales and was looking for a new challenge, so he contacted his friend of 30-plus years, Joe Thompson, to gauge his interest in potentially teaming up. Hajdukiewicz put them in touch with SoBol’s founder and CEO, Jason Mazzarone, and not long after, Duffe signed on to open a SoBol in East Meadow, New York, with Thompson set to hande the day-to-day operations. “Based on the success of Eric’s franchise, I felt good about our East Meadow location. I was excited to know I was on board with a proven model. SoBol made it easy to establish ourselves by being so well-organized,” Duffe said.

With the East Meadow location set to open in August, Duffe feels confident in his latest endeavor. “My favorite part of owning a franchise has been creating something under SoBol’s design or guidance and plans. I’ve loved the independence of creating something, putting in all of your own blood and sweat,” Duffe said. He added that his natural competitiveness developed from his background in sales is going to make a difference in the success of his franchise, so much so he has already begun plans to open a second SoBol unit in Carle Place, New York.

Heart healthy, all-natural products are in demand and SoBol continues to capitalize on consumers’ increasing desires for fresh and fast. Its franchisees recognize the brand’s standout value and are becoming multi-unit owners as a result, positioning the New York market and beyond for growth and success.
