These co-founders found a niche in the quick casual market and are now poised to grow quickly through franchise development.
During his time at a culinary school in San Diego, CEO and co-founder Jason Mazzarone found a match made for success that would start a journey resulting in an exciting, unique and successful business known as SoBol. His healthy and refreshing treat known as an acai bowl would ultimately change his life and the lives of many when returning back to his hometown of Sayville, New York.
Mazzarone first set up shop at his family’s Italian ice house in 2012, serving his new concept to Long Island locals. Soon after he teamed up with Co-Founder Jim Kalomiris, a longtime family friend with over 20 years of experience in restaurant management, real estate and construction.
The two joined forces and opened their first flagship location in the heart of Sayville, serving acai bowls, fruit smoothies and other Southern California food options. As word spread about their creative assortment of homemade granola, acai puree and fresh fruit, both Mazzarone and Kalomiris knew it was time to grow. They opened their next location in Patchogue, NY, another hot-spot for Long Islanders.
It wasn’t soon until a monsoon of demands flooded the co-owners inbox for new locations across the Island and the east coast. With such high request, they knew it was time to share their growth with others, making SoBol a franchised business.
Today, SoBol has 13 stores open with 40+ locations sold. SoBol is open to franchising opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs, families and anyone looking to share the better bowl with the rest of the world.
